Recurring Event see all

October 14, 2023 October 22, 2023

Exhibition

Free and open to the public

The rediscovery of urban rivers is part of a global movement to reclaim territories and nature in the city, made possible by the practice of walking. The exhibition presents photographic explorations of the Flint River (Atlanta) with Virginie Drujon-Kippelen and the Aygalades River (Marseille) with Geoffroy Mathieu, as well as Hannah Palmer’s account of how these images support community action.

“Where the rivers meet” is presented by Villa Albertine, Alliance Française Atlanta, Goethe Zentrum Atlanta, and Atlanta Design Festival as part of City/Cité Atlanta x Marseille: Towards Earthly Cities. Curated by Alexandre Field and Hannah Palmer.

Designed in 2015 and first implemented in Chicago and San Francisco, City/Cité is a transatlantic cooperation and exchange program on urban issues and city making, initiated by Villa Albertine. Coming to Atlanta for the second time, City/Cité Atlanta x Marseille 2023 will host discussions and artistic programming that highlight connections in culture, urban development, and society between Atlanta and Marseille.
