Join us for two exciting conversations with Senegalese author Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, 2021 winner of the Prix Goncourt for his novel La plus secrète mémoire des hommes (lit. ‘The Most Secret Memory of Men’)!

Mohamed Mbougar Sarr was born in Dakar in 1990. He studied literature and philosophy at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Sarr is the author of four novels as well as a number of award-winning short stories. Brotherhood (2014), his first novel, won the Grand Prix du Roman Métis, the Prix Ahmadou Kourouma, and the French Voices Grand Prize, in Alexia Trigo’s translation. He won the 2021 Prix Goncourt for his novel La plus secrète mémoire des hommes (lit. ‘The Most Secret Memory of Men’) (2021), becoming the first Sub-Saharan African to do so. He was also named Chevalier of the National Order of Merit by the president of Senegal.
