Where: Spivey Hall at Clayton State University (2000 Clayton State Blvd., Morrow, GA 30260).

A favorite of European jazz festivals, the brilliant young French pianist Baptiste Trotignon, among the brightest talents on the international jazz scene, makes his Atlanta debut following the success of his 2009 CD release, SHARE.

Beginning as a violin player, the musician eventually discovered the piano, and entered the conservatory of Nantes at age 13. Baptiste Trotignon then attended the Conservatoire national supérieur in Paris, where he studies classical jazz, but quit after two years, when he decided that jazz should be played in clubs and not in rigid institutions. In 1998, he formed a jazz group and began recording. Today, Baptiste Trotignon is one of the most important names in the French jazz scene.
