Music & Technology | Water Drums installation

LABOFACTORY : Jean-Marc Chomaz, Filippo Fabbri, Laurent Karst & Greg Louis

The Georgia Tech School of Music will collaborate with École polytechnique and the Cultural and Scientific Services of the Embassy of France in the United States to showcase the connections between arts and sciences via Water Drums, an experimental performance that visualizes acoustic waves and enables a new form of artistic creation through workshops and an immersive experience. Water Drums is an installation of the artistic group Labofactory, designed in the arts and sciences research group at École polytechnique. The production is sponsored by the Chaire arts & sciences.

École polytechnique is among France’s premier scientific and engineering institutions. The Chaire arts & sciences is shared by École polytechnique, École nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs – Paris Sciences & Lettres, and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation.

The Georgia Tech School of Music in the College of Design develops cutting-edge technologies to help define music’s future, such as music informatics, robotic musicianship, and brain-computer interfaces.

This event is co-organized by the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France in the United States, the Office of Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in the United States, the Georgia Tech School of Music, L’X – École polytechnique, La Chaire arts & sciences de l’École polytechnique, l’École nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs – PSL and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation.
