International airports and their surrounding areas are becoming distinctive economic places, strategic for the development of regions and countries. Meanwhile, these infrastructures can have a significant impact their environment. For this reason, international airports and public authorities all around the world are working more and more in concert to create Sustainable Airport Areas.

In France, around the international airports of Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Le Bourget and in the Greater Roissy Area, twenty two (22) public and private partners work together under a common brand: Hubstart Paris® whose mission is to create a strong Sustainable Airport Area, where economic development is closely tied to both respect for the environment and social responsibility. In the Greater Roissy Area, airports, local authorities, companies, and associations are committed to reaching excellence in this field. In November 2011, the first edition of the Hubstart Paris ® international seminar dedicated to Sustainable Airport Areas” took place at Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

Hubstart Paris®, the Consulate General of France in Atlanta, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and their regional partners, are pleased to present the second edition of the Sustainable Airport Areas International Seminar which will, following the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, be organized in Atlanta on the 30th and 31st of October 2012.

During these two days, international experts will focus on the exchange of ideas, experiences and practical solutions surrounding the concept of Sustainable Airport Areas as a worldwide metropolitan phenomenon. Renowned speakers will contribute to our common reflection on this strategic issue by presenting their research, views and experiences on airport areas. The seminar will also provide a genuine forum for exchanging ideas and sharing good practices between business professionals of airport areas thanks to dedicated workshops.

Day One of the Seminar will begin with a plenary session presenting various differences in airport models in Europe, North America and Asia followed by a series of intensive workshops designed to promote discussion between businesses, governmental agencies and individuals. Conclusions from the workshops and a plan for future action will be presented the following morning, and the seminar will end with a bus tour of the Greater Atlanta Sustainable Airport Area that afternoon.
